Stornoway

Photos from the Lewis workshops: primary schools in Balallan, Laxdale, Carloway and Stornoway have been working with An Lanntair Art Centre and the RSPB to find out about corncrakes, mapping their migration route from the Western Isles to North Africa, and turning the maps into origami birds.  In the meantime another workshop at An Lanntair created a giant origami crane out of some batik paper the participants made with designs of birds.

----------------------------------
Bird specialist Martin Scott will be working with artists from an Lanntair to map the migratory path of the corncrake which travels every year from the Western Isles to North Africa - and back again.  The maps will be made into paper birds to form part of the Flock. (Have you ever received an origami corncrake in the post?)

The whole Flock will be on show at an Lanntair (Kenneth Street, Stornoway) before flying south again to be exhibited in Ullapool and London.
